Meeting Minutes
Meeting
was called to order at 7:05 p.m.
September
meeting minutes and treasurer’s report were read and approved.
Technical
Committee
-The
tower climber has decided not to climb the tower. His company
may do it for about $800. The club will postpone it. Anyone who
knows of someone who might do it should get a quote from that
person and bring it to the next meeting.
Old
Business
-Reminder
to the technical committee about the new repeater
recommendations.
Hamfest
Business
-Gate
$6,050
-Table
Rental $80
-Chili
Supper $134, what we sold and also included concessions
-Testing
$144 to ARRL at $12 with 12 people testing. Five technicians,
two general and one extra passed tests. There were some
complaints about things, but the paperwork was sent in on
Wednesday following Hamfest.
-We
sold 756 tickets and had an extra of $2 in the deposit
-Donations
of $26.40
-Total
deposit of $8,634.40, including the $2,200 in change we started
with.
-We
will need more money in the account next year if we’re going
to do Hamfest the same next year. Discussion followed and it was
suggested that the club track all costs.
-There
were more inside vendors this year. Discussion followed about
possibly closing the commercial buildings next year.
-The
main complaints were about the cost of camping and the
electrical system. There were about 26 or 27 campers. It was
suggested that the club talk to the fair board and see if there
is a way to pay a flat fee for all campers.
-Chili
Supper. It averaged about 45 cents a bowl and a bowl of chili
and hot dog averaged 83 cents. We estimated for 300 people and
only 125 people showed up.
-Next
year the club may look at other companies to make the flyer and
possibly the Hamfest chairman can make a deal with the hotels
for an ad on the back of the flyer for a discounted rate or
something similar.
New
Business
-None
Hal
Mandery won the door prize.
Meeting
adjourned at 8:08 p.m.
Foxhunt
Brandon
Wires was the fox for the hunt. He hid at a pull-off on George
Johnson Road within about 100 feet of the Jackson County line.
Hunter Mike Wright won the hunt. Mike, Ben Hofmann and Brandon
Wires are all tied for first place with only one hunt left to
go. The next hunt will be on November 20.
