December Fox Hunt: Keith and Ann (The Harris Team) was the fox for the December fox hunt.  The Harris Team stood with four victories and the lead for 2006.  Mike, KF9NP, and Larry, WA9FFZ, had three victories a piece and thus had a chance to tie Keith and Ann with a victory for this hunt.  Three hunters showed to hunt down the fox.  They were Mike W., KF9NP, Larry, WA9FFZ, and Mike King, KC9JIG aided by Robert, KC9KFW.  The fox was hidden in a previously unused spot in the northeastern part of the county at the Meadows Church and Cemetery.  Many routes were possible to approach this spot which made the hunt interesting.  As the crow flies the fox den was eleven miles from the starting point.  Keith and Ann made the drive and logged 15.4 miles from the starting point to the fox den.  The hunters were faced with a myriad of “Y” intersections in that area and had to make some critical decisions on which leg of the “Y” to take.  Signal reflections caused a lot of confusion in making these decisions.  All hunters made some bad choices, Larry early on and the two Mikes later in the hunt which added to their total miles driven.  Larry managed to squeak out a victory over Mike, KF9NP, by a scant 0.7 miles.  Miles tally was: Larry, 17.7, Mike, KF9NP, 18.4, Mike, KC9JIG, with driver Robert, KC9KFW, 23.5.  All agreed that it was a very good hunt.  The year tally on victories is Keith/Ann, four, Larry, four, Mike, KF9NP, three and Tim Wray, KB9SNL, one.  Mike K., KC9JIG/Robert/KC9KFW and Ray, KB9LGS have been regular attendees to the fox hunts and have always been in contention with the leaders.  Hopefully, others will join the hunts in 2007 too.

January Forum: Hal has agreed to give us the January Forum.  It will be about a new computer program specifically for ham operators.  Its name is CQ100 and allows hams from all over the world to be connected via the internet.

Forums for 2007: Mike, KF9NP, desires to have a sign-up sheet for forums for each month for the New Year.  If anyone has an idea for a forum or can arrange for somebody to give one then feel free to sign up.

Officers Line-up for 2007.  The December meeting saw the slate of officers presented and voted in for 2007.  They are: President – Mike Wright, KF9NP, Vice President – Rick Davis, WD8JJA, Secretary - Larry, WA9FFZ, and Treasurer – Ann, K9NOT.
